{Quick and Easy} Sausage Balls

July 7, 2014 by Haylee 16 Comments

Frugal and Easy Sausage Ball Recipe (make a family meal delicious!) | Satisfaction Through ChristGood Morning! I hope everyone had a fun, family filled July 4th! Here is a recipe that is great after a busy weekend,  no need to stress about what you are going to cook because Sausage balls are so easy, fast, and yummy.

Every time my husband and I visit his family in Georgia, his mom always has Sausage Balls ready for us.  I crave them on our way over there because I know they will be there when we pull in.  We eat them throughout the weekend for breakfast, snacks, or lunch.  Any time of day is a good time for a few sausage balls. I finally got a chance to write down her recipe a few months ago and made them this weekend. This is such a great recipe to have on hand when feeding kids on the go, or a great finger food for any type of party/shower.

Ingredients

1 lb Ground Pork Sausage (regular, hot, maple, or sage) I use regular because my husband doesn’t like spicy food.

1lb Sharp Grated Cheddar Cheese

2 Cups of Bisquick

Ingredients for Sausage Balls | Satisfaction Through Christ

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Mix together by hand, sausage and cheese in a large bowl.

Next, slowly add the bisquick and if it gets too dry sprinkle with a little water.

Form the mixture into round balls, doesn’t matter what size, just what you prefer. I usually do mine a little smaller than a golf ball. Place sausage balls on a baking sheet.

Bake around 15 minutes until golden brown. Time may vary with different ovens, so just keep a watchful eye on them the first time you make them. Once they are done, let them cool off and enjoy!

This is the recipe I use, and they are soooo good! A helpful hint I discovered– if the sausage is too cold, it will not absorb the Bisquik as easily. I always let it come nearly to room temperature or nuke it for a few seconds before adding the Bisquik :0)

I know what you mean about getting the sausage at room temp, it is way easier that way, definitely a good tip!

My mother has a similar recipe, she just adds shredded carrots and finely chopped onions. I love spicy foods, so I prefer the hot ground pork sausage. I can eat this all day everyday. 😀
