I am so excited to be guest posting for Christie here at Satisfaction Through Christ! I usually write about the MANY home renovations, adventures, and DIY projects in our first home at my blog DelightCreativeHome, but today I am going to take up some blog space to share with you a more personal piece of my story. My husband and I are currently in the process of adopting our first child through an international adoption. As the process nears the 2 year mark, it is hard to patiently wait on God and His timing; however we have been so blessed in the “wait.”
“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Matthew 6:34
For my husband and I it has been about our seemingly poor timing. We tend to think we have a great plan, but it is not the same as God’s plan. When we started the adoption process we were both employed and comfortable where we were at – in the year and a half we have been working on a homestudy, dossier, and waiting on a referral – we bought a house, both started new jobs, and we even started attending a new church … yes, all were completely unexpected changes.
It is scary to jump into something new, and then to have to redo paperwork, fingerprints, etc. for the adoption. But God has proven Himself faithful through it all, and in the end, both of us love where we are working now, we finally have a place to permanently call home, and we are connecting with great new people at church.
God has blessed us in this time of waiting. Even though there is something HUGE on the horizon for me, like becoming a mommy, I am constantly reminding myself to be in the here and now. It is easy to skip over the things God is doing in the day to day when I only focus on the future.
Rather than fret over the unknowns of tomorrow, trust in the Maker of it – that He will be faithful and give you the strength for whatever it holds. Look for the purposes in the wait, and you can see God providing for you along the way.
