Dirty Dishwasher Secrets {#MyPlatinum #Sponsored}

June 19, 2013 by Christie Leave a Comment

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Cascade. I received a product sample to facilitate my review and a promotional item as a thank you for participating.

Am I the only one that feel’s like I’ve been running the dishwasher a lot lately?  I’m sure there are several reasons why but the main culprit is — we’re eating more at home and trying to save our money!  Ministry and life with kids can be hectic.  Sometimes it’s just so much easier to grab something on the go, but the amount of money we were wasting and the poor quality of our food choices had to change.  So, more eating at home means more dishes to wash!

Now, I grew up with a dishwasher, and so did Q but his mom made them hand-wash them (poor kid)!  So, to say I’m spoiled…yeah!  We’ve lived in four different homes in our six years of marriage and one of those homes did not have a dishwasher…torture!  So now I only hand-wash dishes that can’t go in the dishwasher.  But, that leads me to another issue…cheap dishwashers and detergent!

We moved into our current home a year ago; a brand new home with brand new appliances, but the dishwasher is cheap and in an effort to save money I buy the store brand detergent.  That not only leaves me pre-washing, but it also leaves me with dirty dishes in the end!  Q pulled a cup out of the cupboard the other day.  Let’s just say I didn’t inspect it before I put it away — nasty!

So, when a little bag of arrived on my doorstep, it felt like Christmas!  I was so excited to try them out and see if they actually did get the job done better than those store brands!  I even did a few tests to really see how well it worked, including no pre-washing of a few items before I placed them in the dishwasher!  As fearful as I was, here was the result…

I’d have to say that the Cascade Platinum Pac promise of powering away tough, 24-hour stuck on food and eliminating the need to pre-wash dishes is true; the proof is in the picture!  Here I was thinking that most of my dirty-clean dishes were the fault of my cheap dishwasher, but apparently it was my detergent!  Although Cascade Platinum Pacs are a bit pricier than I’d like to pay, I will definitely be splurging from now on!  I’m sure I’ll save the difference in the water I usually use to pre-wash!

And since Cascade Platinum Pacs do such an awesome job of keeping dishes sparkling clean, you can rest assured that those dinner guests won’t be finding stuck on food on their dinner plates!  It’s a fact that people eat with there eyes.  Presentation can either make a meal or ruin it, so Top Chef judge and editor of Food+Wine Magazine, Gail Simmons, has partnered with Cascade to talk about why presentation is just as important as preparation.

And, here’s the fun part!  Cascade’s #MyPlatinum Instagram contest is awarding two winners a week with a brand new Whirlpool Dishwasher and one grand prize winner will receive a $10,000 platinum kitchen makeover!  You can stay up to speed on all Cascade updates on their Facebook page, too!

Entrants must be registered on the contest site and have an Instagram account.  Uploaded photos must use the #MyPlatinum hashtag and tag @MyCascade!  There are only two weeks left to enter, so hurry on over now!

Here are the contests still up for grabs…

Week 4:  My Platinum Table {6/24-6/30}
