Prayers for Girls (and Boys) {Review and Giveaway}

May 13, 2013 by Christie 7 Comments

Tommy Nelson sent me a copy of Prayers for Girls and Prayers for Boys to review and keep back in April and they’re allowing me to share a copy with two of you today!  All opinions are my own, of course!

Moriah is still in the page ripping stage with her books, so I always love the opportunity to receive new board books for her.  I don’t have to worry about her looking at them by herself and fearing that they’ll be ruined by the end of the day.  These cute books each have great illustrations and a little handle to carry the book around with, which makes it easy for toddlers to grab and go!
Prayers for Girls and Prayers for Boys encourages young children that prayer is great anytime, anywhere, any way, with anyone, and that God always listens when we speak to him.  Not only does it teach where, when, and how to pray, but it encourages being thankful to the Lord for all of their blessings, too.
Because this is an honest review, I was caught off guard by one of the first few pages that said, “Praying with God is like speaking to a friend.  As you get to know Him, your problems will end.”  Even at a young age I don’t want my children to think that a relationship with Christ will guarantee them an easy life.  In fact, for those of us that have been Christians for any length of time, we can vouch for the fact that the Christian life is hard, yet rewarding.  So, even in the books that she reads, I want Moriah (and Kharis) to know that God calls us to lay down our lives, not surrender to an easy one.
Here’s what Tommy Nelson has to say about these resources:
Prayers for Boys/Prayers for Girls
*ages 1-4
*Great choices for parents looking to introduce their children to the importance of prayer.
*These selections help parents not only lead their children through prayer, but these small, soft, padded board books with handles are a great child-friendly gift for any occasion.

Today, two readers will win a copy of Prayers for Girls or Prayers for Boys.  The winner chooses which one they would like.  Please use the Rafflecopter form below to enter.

    We praise God and pray for family and friends, but no specific prayer.

    We start our prayers with each telling something we’re thankful for.
