Adoption Update

April 1, 2013 by Christie 14 Comments

I have been completely amazed (what’s new!) over the last few months as I’ve watched the Lord provide for our family in unimaginable ways.  Let me give you a few numbers to help you understand just what the Lord has done in our lives…

Our first “picture” of our baby girl!
1/10/13 – Bloggy friend emails me the profile of a beautiful birth family looking for an adoptive family to adopt their baby girl due on April 6.
1/11/13 – The Lord confirms our need to move forward with an answered (and very specific) prayer request.  We quickly get our family profile together and overnight it to Florida for the birthparents to review.

1/29/13 – We receive the phone call telling us that the birth family chose us and we announce to all of you that we’re adopting again!

1/31/13 – Our adoption agency gives us 15 days to raise our first $10,000 and we launch operation 10:10:1!

2/10/13 – The end of Operation 10:10:1 blesses us with $10,019!

3/1/13 – We headed down to Florida to meet our birth parents for the first time!  I had a post written up about our meeting and what an amazing time that was for us and accidentally deleted it.  Let’s just say, the Lord confirmed that this was His will for our family.  It was one of the greatest weekends we’ve had in a long time and we feel like our birth parents are an extended part of our family.

3/23/13 – 53 days after being chosen to adopt our baby girl, we are fully funded!  You heard that right! In 53 days the Lord provided over $36,000 to bring our baby girl home!  We fundraised $18-20,000 and the Lord asked us to sacrifice the rest.  This adoption, by far, has been one of the most self-sacrificing journeys we have ever been on.  Not only has the Lord asked us to do it, but he’s given us a heart to do so.  We have realized that money and material possessions are nothing in comparison to being able to raise a child in the Lord.  We are beyond blessed that He chose us to walk this faith journey with him!

Baby girl’s due date is this Saturday!  To say that we’re a little excited is a huge understatement!  We are so, so ready to see her beautiful little face!

Please continue to pray for us as we prepare to travel, leave Moriah at home while we are away, and meet our newest baby girl for the very first time.  Please pray for our birth family as they prepare to make one of the hardest decisions of their lives.  Pray that we would have the right words to speak and the actions to show Christ’s love during this time.

We can’t wait to share her with you!
