I’d love to introduce you to another shop owner today! Lana and I have had a great time getting to know one another over the last week or two and I’m excited to have her on the blog!
I asked her if she’d introduce herself and her shop today and she agreed! So, meet Lana!

I am so happy and honored to have a guest blogging spot this month to tell you a little about myself and the company I am the earthly care taker of.
My name is Lana and I am married to Johnathan. We have two daughters, Lilly and Ada. While the story of our family begins 15 years ago I want to focus on 2008. Just over four years ago our family was in a massive state of change. Johnathan had taken a job in another town and we were trying very hard to find a home so that we could all be back under one roof together. This went on for four very long months. We ended up not moving, but during that time God placed a desire in my heart to do something else. Something that was no where to be found within my college degree or my plans but it’s completely perfect. God began to place a discontent in my heart with what I was doing and I was searching to figure out why. Servanthood kept creeping into my quiet time and would stay on my heart. It felt completely vague, for I sincerely believe that you can be a God servant wherever you are. With all of the chaos I wasn’t able to hear God’s quiet leading and what I desired was for “servanthood” to become more specific. A sweet friend and t-shirt would change all of that. After seeing her 963missions.com t-shirt I was completely overcome. I knew my calling was similar. I left her home and called Johnathan so that we could pray together about what was on my heart.
Christmas found the girls and I making goat milk soap for the ladies in our family. It felt as though we were headed for so much more. After much prayer and discussion, The Awakening Soap Company was born in April of 2009. Our goal was for God to use it however he saw fit. Our God has a wonderful since of humor and irony, so the fact that he decided to use something I had struggled with to spiritually anchor The Awakening Soap Company should not have come as a surprise. Johnathan and I are very blessed to have two beautiful daughters but we have walked the road of miscarriages. Three of them to be more specific. I often found myself visiting with customers or vendors and finding out that they too had lost a child. I am always humbled when someone will share part of thier journey with me. It blows my mind with what they will entrust to me. God brings their stories back to my mind and I pray for them often. This led to a desire to help support two amazing ministries, Pregnancy Resources of Abilene and The Child Survival Program which is a part of Compassion International.
The soapy side of things: At The Awakening Soap Company we make Goat Milk soaps that feature Avocado Butter and Essential Oils. We also use dried herbs, flowers, ground oats and other exfoliants. We use local ingredients where we can. Our soaps can be purchased for a variety of uses ranging from everyday use, to gifts and event favors. We also offer a fundraising opportunity. Custom soaps and custom packaging are welcome. As soaps are being created there is generally praise music playing and the soaps are prayed over by members of our family before they are delivered or shipped.
We continue to grow and develop as a company but we also desire to grow and develop as God’s children. We strive to refine what we feel he is asking us to do and how best to do it. We continuously pray that we are stewards of what he has entrusted in us. We very much appreciate any and all prayers.

I hope this has given you a bit of insight into who we are and why we do what we do. We hope that in some small way we have encourged you to step out to follow the path that God has laid out in front of you. When you feel like you are staring an impossible task in the face know that God is always there with you. It is amazing to watch him open doors and provide!
They feast on the abundance of your house; you give them drink from your river of delights. For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light.
Psalm 36:8-9
Blessings,
Johnathan and Lana
