Way back in 2010 I watched an episode of The Today Show where a psychologist made this statement:
“Marriage was first instituted as a business transaction. Now that times have changed, it’s a choice to stay married.”
Even today, that comment still gets to me!
I’d like to believe that marriage was instituted by the One and Only Creator God and it’s not a choice, it’s an unconditional convenant.
Is marriage worth fighting for?
Is standing up for God’s view of marriage worth it in a world where marriage, and the sanctity of it, is disposable?
I think so!
Marriage is hard! But, nobody ever said it would be easy. He just said it would be worth it!
Let’s “dance in the minefields” knowing that Christ is leading us!

All of the good things are hard (marriage, raising kids, a career, school, etc.) but you’re right, they’re all worth it.

Marriage was designed by our Creator. I heard a preacher on the radio yesterday say that marriage is like the trinity. God created man, wife, and child (yes, adoption too my beautiful blogging friend!) and they work together to bring glory to our Father. We are a team, it is not always easy, but it is always the way of our Lord.
Merry Christmas and much love to you!

I think there is choice involved in marriage. Once married–you can choose to fight for your marriage or you can choose laziness and apathy towards it. Marriage is a covenant, but each person’s marriage experience is determined by the choices they make within that covenant!

You’re right! There are many choices involved in marriage, but the idea of being married and remaining married is no choice. A covenant is an unconditional promise….I promise to love you and remain married to you no matter what. Our society has become lazy and apathetic towards it, and it hurts my heart to see something that God holds so dearly, become something so easily tossed aside!

I agree with you. It’s sad that sustaining a marriage has become a choice rather than a commitment with no outs. Thank you for linking up with the Mommy-Brain Mixer this week, Christie. Please double check to be sure you link up a specific motherhood post next time rather than your homepage. It’s no big deal, just makes it easier for us to visit your mommyhood posts. Have a terrific Christmas.

I loved reading this post. Couldn’t agree more- marriage is a beautiful, sacred God-created union, and too often it is taken too lightly by our society.
