Where’s Our Homestudy (Take 2)

October 1, 2010 by Christie 9 Comments

Cue laughter to keep from pulling my hair out!

Our homestudy was submitted to the agencies committee this Wednesday (for the second time…long story). I emailed our social worker yesterday morning to see if she had heard whether we passed…this time! She said she hadn’t heard but should know something by the end of the day, or at the latest, by today.

Guess what!? I haven’t heard from her today…

Q and I were sitting here and realized that we’ve been in this homestudy process since the end of May. Today is October 1, for those of you keeping up, that’s 4 months…

You get what you pay for (ha!)

I asked for patience, He’s granted it, maybe not in the most graceful of ways, but patience, none-the-less.

This is going to be one prayed for child! Keep praying!

Wow! That is ridiculously long! I know how hard it is when you can’t wait to start submitting your homestudy. Could you get a new social worker? Or talk to her supervisor? It is horrible when there are so many kids who need a home and you are ready for them but there are things we can’t control getting in the way. With our homestudy my after a month of waiting for the FBI fingerprint clearance mine came back not good enough because my grooves weren’t deep enough so I had to go redo them and wait another month.

Have done many of those and it can be so frustrating. I like the part when you said you get what you pay for. That is so true. Hopefully you get it all finalized really soon.

I agree w/ Rachel. You need a new social worker. And I would file an official complaint. Seriously!! That is ridiculous!

I just want to encourage you as you wait. We too began ours in May and it’s not done yet. We are waiting on a form from our local DFCS office which is proving to be a nightmare to obtain. I am definitely feeling the irritation along with you. It’s really tough to know you’re not even in the position to say “yes” yet if a situation arose.
