Hodge Podge

October 28, 2010 by Christie 5 Comments

This is setting out to be a random post about random things, hence the title and the state of my mind 🙂

  1. I have to make sure that you all know that there was supposed to be sarcasm in that “perfect Christian” comment last night. I never want you to think that I ever think that I’ll reach the perfection that only our Lord Jesus Christ was able to attain! I await that day in Heaven. Unfortunately, tone and sarcasm are hard to convey on a blog 🙂
  2. I got a burst of energy last night and decided to clean the “future baby/child room”. For those of you that don’t know, Q’s mom and 2 brothers lived with us for 4 months at the beginning of the year. She just recently found a home and we just got most of her stuff out of the room she stayed in. I decided to clean out the closet (just moving it to another closet!) and dust and vaccum last night. I’ve got sheets in the wash and hopefully we’ll be moving that bedroom suite into the other room and moving the crib/toddler bed into that room. I’ve had a lot of toys and clothes given to us over the past year (people just knowing that we’d “get a child soon”!). I need to sort through them and get some sense of order around here.
  3. Like I said the other day; I’m in that in-between stage where I don’t know what to do, as far as preparing goes. We have a crib, but no mattress. We have clothes, for different ages and genders. We have no other room decor. In other words, it’s a pretty sad looking room!
  4. On one hand I fear that we won’t ever hear anything and on the other hand I fear getting that call from the social worker saying they want to come interview us tomorrow! What are your thoughts? Should I prepare the room, atleast looking like we’re prepared!?

On another note, remember my friends I asked you to pray for last week? Well, little Zane was born on October 23! Head over to Tara’s blog and congratulate them on their new arrival and continue to pray for them as they wait to finalize everything!

And continue to pray for Jill as they seek to pray for and support her in-laws. I am behind on blogs and don’t know how much she has shared on her blog as far as the diagnosis is concerned. God knows their needs, just be praying.

And last, I can’t thank you all enough for loving and supporting us over the last few months. I never imagined that this blog would bring me so many friends from the body of Christ. Let us continue to build one another up!

You are right, tone and sarcasm are hard to display on a blog, but when people generally know what type of person you are, they get what you are saying 😀

I think you should do up that room as if your baby was coming home this weekend. I would be fun!

I think painting is something you could go ahead & do now if you would be o.k. with a gender-neutral color like green, yellow, or brown. If you want pink for a girl or blue for a boy, hold off. You will have plenty of excitement & energy stored up to knock out the room once you get a referral – it’s amazing how motivating “nesting” is 🙂

Praying! Can you also pray that God Moves Mountains for us with our adoption 😉

I knew what you meant about the “perfect Christian” thing. I have always strived to be that type of Christian, and then realized about a year ago it was not possible, nor necessary thankfully!! 🙂 You are such an inspiration to all of us. Sometimes God uses the “in-between” times such as these to prepare your heart. Can’t WAIT for you to get matched!!

I started working on Reed and Scarlett’s room months ago. But, only because it made me feel good. If you want to work on their room and it’ll help with the waiting, go for it. If not, then don’t worry. You can have a ready room and sort all the clothes in just a couple of days. You can always get some friends to help, right?
