Guess what!? Our social worker was late this morning! Can you tell I’m all smiles about that one!? No, late to the first meeting, cancelled the second meeting, and late today. Please tell me this isn’t a picture of what’s to come!
Anyway, she was pleased that all of our paperwork was finished (Go Us!!) but didn’t approve of the photo album I put together 🙁
I bought 10 (4×6) albums at *Michael’s. Luckily I only did one finished product because she wants something (8×10) that can be easily mailed. In other words, one of those cheap plastic “binders” with photocopied pictures. So much for making a good first impression!
She was able to get in touch with the lady that did our training classes and get our fingerprints from her. So glad we don’t have to do those all over again. Also, she said she hadn’t received Q’s background check from Alabama (that we sent off for a month ago…erggg!)
Luckily I tracked the money order, found out it had been cashed, called the Birmingham District Court (who luckily keeps track of these things), was connected to one of the nicest public/court workers I’ve ever talked to, who looked up the background check she mailed at the end of May, who graciously offered to mail off two copies (again)…one to our agency and one to our address…just to make sure we got it. Lord, thank you for placing that kind woman on the phone, ’cause you know I couldn’t have handled a person on the other end that loathes the job You have provided them 🙂
How’s that for a run-on sentence!?
Somewhere in the one week that we will be home this month, I have to figure out how to complete all 10 of our photo books and do medication administration training. Woo, what a crazy month we have ahead of us!
I started reading Radical last night…love it! I don’t ever read, so for me to pick up a book whenever I have free time, it’s something special. I feel like I’ve heard a lot of what’s been in the first 2 chapters. Probably from Q listening to his sermons and getting blips that people post on their blogs. None-the-less, it’s a great read…convicting but necessary. I feel like I’m at that point in my walk with Christ where I love conviction and I’m not scared of it. In a sense, I yearn for it because I want to grow in Christ…bring it on!!
So, there it is, my random update. Pray for safe travel this week as we head to Bluffton, SC (near Hilton Head) on our church’s annual Family Mission trip. The men will stay back and do “manual labor” on the Ranch we stay at and the women and children will go to a local community center where we will hold a vacation bible school for **170** kids (we were expecting 50, they told us 170….yesterday!). Pray that God would be glorified (we know He will) and that we would be a light to those around us!

Random…maybe, but it’s all good! That sounds like a happenin’ VBS!! Too bad it wasn’t for a couple more weeks b/c we are headed that direction for family vacation.

Hi Christie, it sounds like you are handling the social worker situation very well. I hope it’s not a snap shot of what’s to come in future dealing.
Hope all goes well on the Misssion trip!

Hey there Christie – way to hang in there girl! I wanted to mention snapfish.com – they have little programs on which you can very easily make your photobooks (you just scan your photos to your harddrive, or if you already have digital copies, you just upload them to their site). They put together photo books from your pics & that might be a better first impression if that’s what you’re looking for than a binder with photocopies. Just a thought… email me if you want help with it! 🙂 Enjoy your holiday!

There is one thing that you can always count on with the adoption paper-chase process….and that’s frustating bureaucratic challenges. But they stretch us and just make us more patient for what’s to come :o)
Hang in there! You will get through this time and it will all just seem like a blip on the adoption radar someday :o)
