Yesterday I decided to clean out our bedside drawers and “straighten” up a little bit. I ran across a little change and decided to start our adoption “fund”! As you see, it’s only 1/8 full and mostly pennies, but God blesses pennies too, right!?
We have decided to focus on our first $5,000 at the moment (all the while, praying!) This would take care of the application fee, 1st program fee, homestudy, and more. We want to be good stewards of our money (Romans 13:8) and don’t feel that an interest loan would be the best way to do that. We know that God will provide!!
I came home today to find a note from Q, tucked inside this book (Adopted for Life by Russell D. Moore). It really touched my heart, as it was his way of telling me that he hasn’t been ignoring my daily adoption “talks” and that he’s praying as well! We have a lot to figure out and pray about but atleast I have some reading to keep me busy now!
Continue to pray! I was looking at all of our “Stage 1” fees today and rounded up to our $5,000 mark. I wrote it down, circled it, and prayed over it. Praying that God would provide, that we would continue to be diligent in the areas of service that he has currently blessed us with, and that every bit of the GLORY received from this would go to Him!
And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. Hebrews 11:6
If your adoption fund is starting small, take heart, and seek God. Remember, “Sometimes the journey to adoption starts small. Sometimes it starts with a handful of pennies.”

I will be praying for you and your husband and that God will confirm adoption is the right path as you move out in faith. That is an excellent book. Another good one if you haven’t read it yet is Fields of the Fatherless by Tom Davis. I was always the adoption initiator in our marriage. Thankfully God always put things in my husband’s path to confirm that as well. If you ever want to talk or need some praying friends, I would be happy to help. I have done tons of research on adoption funding and grants and would be happy to help. Also AAI might be a good option for you if you haven’t already looked into them. I love to see that we aren’t the only ones who are not wanting to get a loan as well. So many people have questioned that … it’s hard not to give in sometimes.
