On days when it feels like everyone in your world is against you, encourage your heart with Scriptures that prove God is for you.
I stood at the sink, tears dripping into the dishwater. It had been an extra hard few days of parenting. Of trying to understand the issues accurately, of trying to make the right decisions, respond the right way.
I was more discouraged than usual that afternoon. I felt rather helpless and therefore somewhat hopeless. It didn’t seem like I could get anything right, and I had an overwhelming sense of being alone in my struggles. I felt like giving up. I wasn’t sure I had the strength to keep trying to figure things out.
That’s when the Holy Spirit brought Romans 8:31 to mind:
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?
Friends, on days when it seems like everyone in your world is against you or you feel like you can’t get anything right, don’t give up.
Remember that God is FOR you.
The God of the universe, the One who created you and knows you intimately, is on YOUR side. In Christ there is no condemnation. (Romans 8:1) The devil is the one who hurls accusations and tries to destroy the truth. (1 Peter 5:8) Don’t let Satan’s lies steal your hope, your joy, your courage to keep pressing on.
Stand firm in the knowledge that God who redeemed you and calls you His own is much, much greater than the one who tries to deceive. (1 Peter 5:9-11, 1 John 4:4) In your weakness fall upon God’s strength. (2 Corinthians 12:9) His grace alone is sufficient to carry you through whatever trial He has entrusted to you. (2 Corinthians 3:5)
Do you ever wonder if God is for you?
May I encourage you that you’re not the only one who’s felt that way? Many people both past and present have wondered the same thing. (1 Corinthians 10:13) Regardless of what I feel, I am not alone in my struggles and neither are you.
Scripture reminds us that God has always been and will always be on the side of His people both collectively and individually.
When you start to feel alone, or you begin to doubt your place or your ability, saturate your mind with the truth of God’s Word.

Jesus promised in John 16:33:
In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.
Don’t let your struggles overwhelm you. Know that God is on your side, ready to be strength in your weakness and magnify Himself through you.
For God, who said, “Light shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves; we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying about in the body the dying of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. For we who live are constantly being delivered over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.
2 Corinthians 4:6-11

That’s a neat phrase, Gail – “God proves us to improve us.” He really does have our best interest in mind. And it all points to His glory.
