A few months ago I experienced a little disappointment on Pinterest. I know what you’re thinking – that the only possible disappointment on Pinterest is your next failed DIY that looked so easy on So & So’s board. While I’ll admit that my inability to follow-through on brilliant pins is genuinely disappointing, it wasn’t a DIY or tip pin that deflated my hopes a few months ago.
What was the pin? Oh, just a gorgeous nautical colored outfit set from Polyvore. It was the first I’d heard of Polyvore, the dream site that allows you to curate sets of clothing or home goods. It was a darling outfit with navy capri slacks and a white and blue three quarter sleeve blouse, a charming navy hair scarf with little white anchors on it, a chunky white handbag and sandals. (A few bright yellow bangles and matching earrings were there too!)
Since then I’ve seen hundreds of pins featuring clothing sets for women, dot my Pinterest feed. But what was so disappointing about that original Polyvore pin? (And many of the following pins.) That darling nautical blouse? A steep v cut dip, front and center, meant that the most memorable aspect of the outfit would be the plunge of cleavage it displayed for all the world to see. Polyvore seemed like such a fun website to me, until I realized that immodest clothing was the trend. I was tempted to write it off, list it as a lost cause, but God began tugging at my heart a bit. So I set out on a bit of a fashion quest, to find modest, (but not fuddy duddy!) clothes on Polyvore!
So what’s the secret? How did I weed through endless sets with little more than a bikini in place of a blouse and shorts that were so short they looked outrageously uncomfortable? I didn’t. I started thinking to myself, “Thanks for that nudge God, this is hopeless, you know!” Silly me, and faithful God, He increased the vision, and Christie and [Tweet “I realized that STC could meet a need for Christian women by curating modest outfits on Polyvore!”]
God knew this was part of the plan for Satisfaction Through Christ all along, I just caught on rather slowly, as usual.
It’s true! Satisfaction Through Christ is now on Polyvore! And we’re curating modest clothing sets for all occasions. Fun day out with the kids, running errands, church service, or church social, maybe event date night with the hubs! We’re searching and screening dresses, pants, blouses, shorts, skirts, shoes, bags, you name it to give you ideas for your own modest wardrobe!
Now, a little note. Stop by STCblog.polyvore.com and take a peek at what we’ve prepared so far. You may notice a shirt that costs nearly $1,000 (read a whole months income) or a dress that costs $90, and think they’re crazy! We aren’t necessarily saying, “buy this whole, exact, set and wear it to church.” We’re simply saying, here are some ideas you could look for at your favorite clothes stores, whether thats an outlet store or a thrift store, a yard sale, or an online clothing site!
So how do you find modest outfits on Polyvore? You follow Satisfaction Through Christ! Plus we’ve got a brand new Pinterest board dedicated to bringing modest clothing ideas to Christian women! Take a moment to browse through the Pinterest board and pin your favorite sets, and feel free to leave comments on the pins you love! We’ll use your comments to curate even more modest sets in the future! (PSST! Do you curate modest clothes on Polyvore too? Please comment with your Polyvore name/link, we’d love to follow along with you and maybe even pin your sets for our viewers to garnish inspiration!)
