It’s just not.
Until your child has children of their own, there is no way they will ever comprehend why you do what you do.
This is why it is vital to your heart that no matter how your days, months or years work out that you place your trust in what the Lord promised you.
It seems that in this day and age where we are raising a generation that I lovingly call the “Entitlement Generation” that it is becoming more and more difficult to train up a child in the way he/she should go.
Let me remind you of a few of God’s promises:
Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it – Proverbs 22:6
Will your child stray? Maybe. Will they always desire their own personal relationship with the Lord? Maybe…maybe not. But TRUST that God has them and cling to this verse.
When I am afraid, I put my trust in you – Psalm 56:3
There are times when we will fear for our children. Trust in the ONE that loves your child more than even you do!
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding – Proverbs 3:5
There will absolutely be times that you do not understand why your child is doing what they are doing. There may be times that your heart and soul are crushed and the tears seem never ending. TRUST HIM even when you don’t understand
Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path Psalm 119:105
When you are helping to light the way for your children, USE GOD’S Word. He is ever faithful, never changing and always preparing us to honor Him in some way.
What verses do you cling to when it comes to raising Godly children?
Do you have your children memorize verses so that no matter what happens they can hide Gods word in their hearts?
One last thing…sometimes there are no words of comfort on this earth. I’d like to share 52 of God’sPromises that you can use as a Quick Reference. Please feel free use these to encourage others!

@shirley – so so true that their spiritual future is so important. don’t get discouraged…keep fighting
@rambling momma – well that is one of the many tools of the enemy – we mom’s often do feel like a failure, especially when our child(ren) are going through the “i hate you” phase. you are not a failure and you never will be because you are doing what God said and are trusting in HIS promises.

I love these scriptures in Proverbs! They are such a comfort when thinking of our children’s futures. Our ultimate goal should always be to raise them to love Christ and live their lives for Him. Thanks for your thoughts!
