Usually, when I think of the word “homemaking,” I think of Better Homes and Gardens. You know, having a spotless showplace with the most beautiful designer furniture, a lovely table set with fresh flowers, fine china, and cloth napkins, cuisine containing ingredients you have to special order at a froo froo food market. Oh, and candles. Lots of candles.

When he had washed their feet and put on his outer garments and resumed his place, he said to them, “Do you understand what I have done to you? You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you.
John 13:12-15

Great post! It’s the little things sometimes that make the biggest difference to our family.
Thanks, Sarah!
LOVE IT! And thank you so much for posting this, I now know what my next family devotion will be on.
Thanks, Neyssa!
This definitely humbled me! I want to be so much like Jesus, but I’ve been overlooking the day to day mundane tasks of simply doing something for someone because I want to be like Jesus. It’s all about serving one another in love, not huffing and puffing if my husband asks me to do him a favor or if my sister asks me to get her a cup of water.
Thank you so much for sharing!
Thanks, Olivia! Yep, sometimes we forget that serving the Lord isn’t always something big, but the small day to day things we do to lay down our lives for each other :0)
This is a great post and so true! 🙂
Thanks, Pamela!
Mmm, love this! “We follow Jesus’ example of washing another’s feet when we die to self, pick up a towel and serve our family members.” – I’m writing that down!
Glad you enjoyed it, Chantel!
Thanks for sharing this post. So true. We all make it work for each other.
Thanks, Starla!
Amen! So thankful I read this today!!! Beautiful post
I’m glad it was helpful for you, Ashley!
Great way to look at it… I’m really tired of the grumbles from my kids about doing their “chores”… but this is a way to help them understand we are all serving each other. Thanks so much!
My kids are grumblers, too. They probably get it from me! I’m asking God to help me set a good example of servanthood for them.
Amen! Homemaking is an active of service each and every family member gives to the others! What a fabulous post.
Thanks, Helene. Glad you liked it.
