On The Farm: The Prodigal Pig {Review & Giveaway}

August 19, 2013 by Christie 17 Comments

Tommy Nelson sent me a copy of The Prodigal Pig to review and keep.  All opinions are my own! This post may contain affiliate links!

Moriah has her favorites when it comes to movies and television shows, but I always offer her Christ centered options.  I truly believe that what she reads, watches, and listens to affects how she acts and how she’ll view the world as she grows up.
Christian Children's DVD
In On the Farm: The Prodigal Pig, Porkchop the pig realizes that the world might have more to offer him, and his music career, than the farm can provide.  So, he tells Farmer Bob that he’d like his allowance for the next ten years and he heads off to town.  As soon as he hits the city, he runs into a “talent scout” who claims to be able to make Porkchop famous in no time!  He plays his first gig in a diner and makes new friends by offering to buy everyone cocoa, donuts, and more. Sooner than later, he finds his allowance gone and his new found friends are nowhere to be found.
In a spin off of the story of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15: 11-32), Porkchop finds himself in a less than desirable predicament but fears Farmer Bob won’t accept him if he comes back to the farm.  We all know the ending to Jesus’ parable; a father always forgives and loves his son.
Here’s what Tommy Nelson has to say about this great resource:

    This seems like it will be an awesome educational movie for kids. Since I don’t have any kids that are old enough for it, I will most likely give it to my friend, she has a 3 year old and a 15 month old. They would love it.

    I think that you are right about what kids see and hear. It’s awfully hard to “unhear” or “unsee” things. Thankfully in this day and age there are lots of wholesome options. kristiedonelson(at)gmail(dot)com Thank you.
