Last month we received a copy of The Story of Easter and we’ve read it every day since!
If you’re anything like us, we don’t celebrate Easter with baskets and bunnies and easter eggs, we celebrate it with Jesus! So, to be able to read this beautiful book with Moriah each day and to share the true meaning of Easter and why we celebrate it, has been a blessing for me.

As we approach Easter Sunday I’m constantly reminded of the sacrifice that Christ made on that “Good” Friday thousands of years ago. As a parent, I want Moriah (and baby girl) to live life knowing the reason for life…Jesus and his sacrifice. I also want them to know what His resurrection means for them…that if they trust and believe in Him, they will have eternal life as well.
May we each strive to live life like we’ve been given the greatest gift ever…the gift that He gave on that first Easter!

My favorite Easter memory is when I began to understand that it was about so much more than Easter eggs and bunnies! I was 14 years old.
One year my mom had gotten each of us personalized hollow chocolate eggs filled with candy. We didn’t have much money so the idea that she had sacrificed so much to make it a memorable Easter for us still stands out in my mind
Well said Christie, as always! We, too, stear clear of all things bunny during Holy Week. This year we’re doing a daily Easter devotional called “Clean on the Inside” to get out hearts and minds focused on Jesus & the cross. We also include Resurrection Eggs to our egg hunt, and after the kids tell us what each of the symbols represent, they get their gift basket!
My favorite memories was just having my brothers and sisters together and up early Easter morning searching for our Easter baskets. Now, I have lost both brothers at young ages so I treasure those memories
Very very good! We are trying to teach our girl what the true meaning of Easter is, just like with Christmas. We still do the Easter Bunny and Eggs and baskets. I feel that is still a important part of childhood. You just have to find the right balance between the two. Explain to your children what the “reason for the season” is but still have fun with the other stuff. My husbands parents didn’t do Santa, Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy or anything with him when he was a child, due to it being pagan, and he has a lot of animosity towards them. My parents were how we are, they instilled the true meanings of the holidays and made that a first priority, but also still provided the other aspects of the seasons.
My favorite memory of Easter has to be seeing the wooden cross at our church. It only came out on Easter Sunday, and it was filled with beautiful spring flowers! We’d snatch the flowers once church was over and take them home to my mom!
my favorite memory was the year my grandfather (May God rest his soul) hid a real egg under the stove and no body could find it until 3 days later when it started to smell. I would love prayer this Easter because I could not afford to give the kids a ham dinner and dyed eggs or presents like the usual families around me do but we are still going to have a nice chicken and really its about the faith and not the fun. I guess being a mom I still feel a bit bad about it.

my favorite memory is going to church them going to my grandparents house for a big family get together and all the kids having a big easter egg hunt in their yard.
I taught English in southeast Asia for a year, and was allowed to share my faith with my students as I explained holidays (as long as I balanced it with secular material). Some of my students really connected with the Easter story, and I burst into tears, telling them, “This is why I came to your country. I know it’s hard to believe, but I wanted you to hear and know this story.”
I think my favorite memories of Easter are when we were really small and all my sisters and I got to wear really frilly dresses and easter bonnets and fancy hats and we looked just as fancy as all the grown people did. 🙂 We never had ham but we ALWAYS had something delicious. And I loved the special EAster crafts our Sunday School teachers had us do. And digging for Easter baskets in the house (mom hid them.) I guess I have a lot of good Easter memories:-)
My favorite memory of Easter is going to church then going to my grandparent’s house for a big Easter celebration with food and a Easter egg hunt.
My favorite memory was waking up and being dragged to church then afterwards there would be an Easter egg hunt where there would be money inside each one we found then later a big dinner.
My favorite memory of Easter is hunting eggs at my granmother’s farm when I was little. I am now 60 and hope to do the same with my granddaughter when she gets old enough, but first she needs to know the real reason we celebrate Easter.

Cindy B (on rc/fb) My favorite memories are getting these large eggs (football sized) made of chocolate from Great Britain that had candies and toys inside when I was a kid.
