“The name?”, we thought! We were caught off guard as we were still in shock that all of this was happening before our very eyes. “If it’s a boy we’d like his name to be Josiah. We haven’t thought yet about a girl’s name!” The rest of the conversation was mostly a blur. All I remember is the lawyer saying we needed to get to Jacksonville the next day.
We automatically started thinking of ways we could get money in the bank. You may remember this post where I shared the room that we decorated for a 3 year old little boy; let’s just say that room no longer exists! We boxed up everything we’d purchased, put it in the car, and prepared to run to Target as soon as it opened Monday morning!
Around 1am I decided it might be a good idea to try to get some sleep; we had a long day ahead of us! Who was I kidding!? At 2am my phone lit up. It was a text message from the attorney, “Baby girl. 7lbs. 10oz.”
We unofficially officially had our first child! It’s a girl!
Q was automatically up while I tried to get some sleep. Little did I know, he was searching for baby girl names, none of which I liked!
7am came quickly and we were on a mission! We headed towards Tar*get — “Uh oh, pull over.” I said. Was it nerves or a bug? Whatever it was, I didn’t want it! I composed myself and we forged ahead. The Target employee didn’t look overly enthusiastic to see so many returns so early in the morning, but it all went smoothly!
The rest of the day consisted of check depositing and returns of un-needed items. Somehow we accomplished it all by 3pm and we were headed towards Jacksonville to meet our baby girl and her birthparents before visiting hours ended for the day!
…to be continued!
