Hmm…good question!
I emailed our social worker last Friday (first correspondence since Aug. 25) and asked her if our homestudy had been approved by her supervisor and sent to the main office. She didn’t get back to me until yesterday and then said that she had to do some editing and that it should be done by the end of the week….
Optimistic thinking was, “She said she would have it done by August 27. Here we are almost 2 weeks later, it must already be at the main office by now!” Ha, silly me!
So, we’re waiting! And I know that each one of these setbacks is leading us straight to the child that God has for us…but, my flesh wants it done…now!
To make a long story short…will you just pray for us! 🙂
And, for a little stress relief, Q and I are headed to Blowing Rock, NC tomorrow. It’s about a 2 hour drive from us (love the Carolinas!!) and we’ll be there until Saturday. We are praying that this time together, away, will be a big “pick-me-up” for both of us!
I don’t think we’ll have internet service (oh my!) so I will try to update when we get back…hopefully with a few pictures, too!

oh, i can just imagine how frustrating that must be. (and it makes me want to start praying today for the adoption that we hope is in our future…!) satan wants so much to distract you and to frustrate you and to keep you from loving the sweet child God has coming to you… BUT GOD. He is big and He is in control.
While His timing IS perfect, I’m praying this week that His timing would be soon. 🙂
And also praying for your time alone together. The stresses of life can get in the way of a relationship so much. I hope yall have a wonderful trip and come back feeling refreshed!
Oh no! That is a long time to be waiting. I hope you enjoy your little trip and it is refreshing for you!
Waiting is the pits, isn’t it? There were many moments I wished I could just “do it myself!” lol I think that was the best part of doing a dossier for international adoption for me & probably the social workers, too, b/c it kept me busy & out of their hair for awhile!
Enjoy your getaway (I’m having some envy!). I just told Joe I need a date with him…I love having those moments when you can hope & dream out loud, together. Have fun!!
Ugh. But yay on the together time – you never know, could be your last get-away as a family of 2 😉
Sorry you are still waiting! God will bless you both through your patience and trust in Him!
Love you and glad you are getting away! Enjoy your time together!

UGH, how frustrating! Did you ever complain about her being so slack?! I remember you said you were thinking about it. Really, that’s just not acceptable. Enjoy your time at Blowing Rock! I love it there!
Have a wonderful trip Christie!!! And try not to get too frustrated with the homestudy. In truth, we have been through 4 social workers since starting our adoption journey (will begin with our 5th one here in HI soon) and only one of them turned out a homestudy in a reasonable (or quoted) time frame. Just seems to be how they tick. I don’t say that to discourage, but just to say, this is normal. Breathe and trust…if we hadn’t had problem after problem with our paperchase and China, we would never have E. God’s weaving your families tapestry and it will be beautiful!!!
Sending a hug and hope that you have a fabulous time!!!
A few days ago I hit a “speed bump” that forced me to delay something I wanted. Through it, I kept sensing God saying “Trust Me to work this out.” And He did. (Not that the delay is avoided, but I’m at peace with it.) I know He will do that for you, too–in the perfect time.
Praying about your homestudy and that your getaway will be refreshing. Hugs!
Ugh! How frustrating! I am so sorry you are STILL waiting, my flesh would be having a fit too! 🙂
PRAYING!
PRAYING…..waiting- stinks! Have a great time away!!!
Praying for you! The wait with the homstudy takes forever….we have been licensed and ready to foster to adopt since the end of april…also I just noticed that you posted about a little boy named Jermaine that was waiting to be adopted. We had actually submitted our homes study on him a month ago and were in contact with the social worker as one of the possible families for him. His foster parents ended up deciding to adopt him. So good for him but sad for us.
