She said she was reading out of her Spurgeon devotional last night and he was using 1 Kings 18: 43.
“And he said to his servant, “Go up now, look toward the sea.” And he went up and looked and said, “There is nothing.” And he said, “Go again,” seven times.”
“Although you may have pleaded month after month without evidence of Him, it is not possible that the Lord should be deaf when His people are serious about a matter that concerns His glory……Faith sends expectant hope to look from Carmel’s peak, and if nothing is seen, she sends again and again. So far from being crushed by repeated disappointment, faith is quickened to plead more fervently with her God.”
Let us “plead more fervently with our God” today. We have serious matters that burden our heart “that concern His glory”.
Praying you’re refreshed today by the word of the Lord.
“Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him
fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way,
over the man who carries out evil devices!”
Psalm 37: 7

what a great devo! it’s amazing how much that encouraged me and applied to my life, yet at the same time, i know that it has encouraged you in such a different situation as well. what an awesome God we serve! 🙂
thanks for sharing, friend!
That is amazing…thank you so much for sharing it! Love you…
I LOVE this passage of scripture, especially verse 41 where Elijah says, “There is a sound of abundance of rain.” What?? There was no sound of rain. The rain wasn’t even close…neither were there any clouds…and there wouldn’t be for quite a while! But in faith, he could boldly state what was not discernible at all in the flesh. So inspiring! I actually wrote about this back in May (http://lifeonsylvandrive.blogspot.com/2010/05/abundance-of-rain.html), but I’m so glad you brought this up now because I need the encouragement again!! 🙂
I also wanted to thank you so much for your sweet comments on my blog; thank you for inspiring me!
