Since my post about not being “on fire” lately, I’ve been in prayer that God would open my heart, mind, and eyes to Him….in every aspect of my life. Specifically, I wanted an intimate relationship through His word…something I haven’t had lately.
Well, alot of that takes effort and time. And for the past few nights I’ve made it a priority to have alone time (literally) with my bible, a highlighter, God, and a commentary. Now, I may be priveleged to a few more commentaries than the average woman (only because my husband loves to advance his theological library!) but I’ve come to realize how useful they are!
The other night I was reading through Hebrews 7. I try to read a chapter a night. I read it through and then went to the commentary in order to understand it better…wow, this is what I learned.
How Important is Jesus? What do you picture when I say, “Jesus intercedes for you and I?”
I picture Jesus standing between God and I, almost as a referee. But, here is what the Expositor’s Commentary says about Hebrews 7:25:
Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.
“We must be careful not to infer from this verse, or from the last phrase of 9:24, that the author thought of our Lord as having to maintain a kind of continuous liturgical action in heaven for our benefit…the meaning is that our Lord’s presence in heaven, seated at God’s right hand, and awaiting the full manifestation of his already achieved victory, itself constitutes his effective intercession for us.”
Wow, wow, wow! How Important is Jesus!? He’s HUGE!! He is so important that him just being seated at the right hand of the Father is enough intercession for our filthy sins. God loves us so much that he doesn’t need a continual pleading from Jesus on our behalf.
If you are washed by the blood of Jesus and know him personally as Lord and Savior…his presence is enough!
Shouldn’t that be evident in our lives? That Jesus is so BIG that we would make him worthy enough to live a righteous, holy life…for all that He’s done for us!?
I think so!
Pray with me today that we all would live lifestyles worthy to be called followers of Him. He deserves all that we have and all that we are in Him. Because He counted us important enough to be seated at the right hand of the Father, interceding for us…not standing between us!

I have no idea where in NC you are…read the town but not familiar with it. Wonder how far away you are from where we are? Hmm….!
When people say, “It’s a small world” I always say, “Not really, it’s a big world, but an even bigger God!”

Sister, we really gotta talk soon. I’ve had a blog post rolling around in my head, but it’s not quite there yet. Just know that your posts are giving me some much needed reminders & promptings, meeting me where I’m at right now!

Wow! I fully understand what you’re saying, and I know that it is done, Jesus has overcome the world and without the faith He gives us, how could we even recognize all that He’s done for us? We wouldn’t be able to. Thank you for this post.

Amazing post. It truly is incredible what our Savior did for us and is constantly doing (interceding on our behalf, merely by his PRESENCE!). God bless you Christie 🙂

Are you reading Platt’s book, Radical? I think some of what he has been preaching and what is then stated in the book is what is spurring me to really process the prayer life issues that I am wrestling with (and started posting about yesterday). What you have written goes right along with it…when we start to understand the big picture of who God is, who Jesus is and who we are, it is a WOW statement and such a humbling thing. No more “mudball prayers” but more important than is really seeing what God desires from me in my relationship with him. It amazes me that He pursues me…..
