First things first…I skipped town on you guys without updating (how dare me!) I am at the beach until Sunday…poor me, I know! But, just wanted to let you all know…I know you worry about me 😉
But, the big news is…..
Our first meeting for our homestudy is set up for 9:30am next Wednesday…ahhh!!
Can you say, “Whoa!”? I’m really excited and I am now in major “crazy” mode. What I’m going to do with that, being away from home, I have NO idea! 🙂
So, please be praying for us. Give me any tips you can and I will put them all into action!
I’ve already asked my brother-in-law to come trim our bushes and put mulch out in the front yard…first impressions are everything!
Love you all!

Enjoy the beach!!! (It’s 60 here and raining, yuck) I freaked out before our first homestudy visit…and I didn’t need to. Unless your house is always spotless, don’t make it the day she comes. I scrubbed and scrubbed for our first visit and by our 2nd post placement visit our house was a mess and she said, “now this is a home with a child in it!”. So relax and enjoy the visit!! You’ll do great!

Go ahead & buy outlet covers & locks for cabinet doors that have chemicals/etc in them… you don’t have to put them out but just have them out on the counter to show you have them and are serious! Another thing – if there are any guns in the house you have to have them locked away or out of the house. One more thing – don’t be nervous & just be yourself. It will go great… I promise, they don’t go around with a white glove test or anything 🙂 Just tidy up, dust & sweep/vacuum. You’ll do fine!! Email me with any other questions you have. I will be praying for you guys!!!! Love, Tara

You will do absolutely great!!!
On the technical things, just a couple quick things to add to J&T’s check list:o) Have the hubs check your water temperature and adjust if it is too hot. Store meds high, check batteries in smoke and carbon monixide detectors, and make sure you have one on each level, as well as a fire extinguisher.
AND remember…most social workers love children, have a passion for adoption, and are usually genuine and great people. Our last one, literally gave us hugs as she left after her last visit with us. They want to see these children placed in loving homes. So don’t stress, you will….because we are women and that’s what we do, but remember you don’t have too :o)
Lots of Love and can’t wait to hear how it goes and that you two are moving forward!!!
