Prayer: An Open Invitation To Call Home

November 2, 2016 by Abi 2 Comments

Prayer is an open invitation to call home anytime. Find encouragement and inspiration in this short collection of quotes on prayer.

We live during unstable times in an unstable world.

And that’s okay because, as Christians, this world is not our home. Not the place we go for comfort, reassurance or answers.

Our home is with Jesus who is preparing a place for us in His Father’s house.

In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.     John 14:2

And we have an open invitation to call home anytime!

Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.     Jeremiah 29:12

Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.     Jeremiah 33:3

O LORD, You have heard the desire of the humble; You will strengthen their heart, You will incline Your ear.     Psalm 10:17

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.     Matthew 7:7-8

Each of the following quotes captures a tiny essence of the mystery of prayer. May they encourage and inspire you to acknowledge your dependence on God and call home any time.

. . .

If prayer seems to you a diversion from productivity, remember that God does more in five seconds than we can in five hours.

 — John Piper

Waiting on God requires the willingness to bear uncertainty, to carry within oneself the unanswered question, lifting the heart to God about it whenever it intrudes upon one’s thoughts.

 — Elisabeth Elliot

Once we learn to pray with our hearts and not our lips we truly begin to have a conversation with God.

 — Unknown

Prayer isn’t about the answer. It’s about the opportunity to see God at work.

 — Elisa Pulliam

What wings are to a bird and sails to a ship, so is prayer to the soul. Corrie ten Boom

Prayer isn’t to remind God what your problems are, but prayer is to remind your problems who God is.

 — Unknown

God will either give us what we asked or give us what we would have asked if we knew everything He knows.

 — Timothy Keller

Prayer is the difference between the best you can do and the best God can do.

— Unknown

Worry and stress are indicators to pray! We give God our cares, and He gives us His peace.

Prayer: An invitation to call home.

Settle your heart. Call home and talk with your Father today.

Gosh, I so need to hear these words today. You know when you’re feeling a little down and you need some motivation but don’t know where to look? I’m glad I found it here.
